The project
What we built in Palo Alto.
This house had a closed-off kitchen, a dark living room and two dated bathrooms. The walls between the kitchen, dining and living room came out, new skylights went in over the kitchen, and a single run of wide-plank oak flooring now ties the whole main floor together around a large island with a stainless hood above it.
Both bathrooms were rebuilt at the same time: one with a tub and shower behind a frameless glass screen and a backlit mirror, the other a long vanity under the windows with a curbless walk-in shower. The before photographs at the bottom of the page show where it started.
